INGRIAN NETWORKS ANNOUNCES ENHANCEMENTS TO ITS LINE OF APPLICATION SECURITY PLATFORMS

Every Ingrian platform now offers new, advanced security capabilities for data encryption, certificate administration, and administrative control

REDWOOD CITY, CA—January 8, 2003—Ingrian™ Networks, the leader in application security solutions for Internet-powered businesses, today announced several important enhancements to its family of secure platforms. Effective immediately, all Ingrian platforms running IngrianOS version 2.8 or higher will support Certificate Revocation Lists (CRLs), the new Advanced Encryptions Standard (AES) for all cryptographic operations, and the security features defined by version 3 of the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP).

Certificate Revocation Lists (CRLs) are often used by Certificate Authorities (CAs), such as VeriSign, to track and reject digital certificates that are no longer valid or considered safe for establishing a trusted Web connection. Ingrian can now maintain CRLs within its platform and interface with various well-known CAs to update the CRLs as necessary. This additional level of security helps prevent unauthorized access to sensitive information.

The Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) has been adopted by the U.S. Government as its new standard for cryptographic operations. AES, which specifies three key sizes (128, 192, and 256 bits), is the result of five years of work initiated by the National Institute of Standards and Technology to ensure the highest protection of sensitive government information. By supporting AES as a user-selectable option within its platform, Ingrian provides customers the highest level of cryptographic security available today.
Ingrian has also enhanced security at the administrative level through the support of SNMP version 3, which provides three optional levels of administrative access and control using cryptographic keys to ensure authentication and privacy. In addition, specific SNMP data—such as alerts and traps—can also be encrypted and accessed only by authorized administrators.

“These three new features represent the kind of core security enhancements that every customer wants and values in a comprehensive Web application security solution,” said Matt Blythe, Sr. Product Manager at Ingrian Networks. “Ingrian’s unique platform architecture allows us to continue to add these and other security capabilities very quickly as customer requirements and threats evolve.”

The three security features described here come standard in every Ingrian secure networking platform running IngrianOS 2.8 or higher. All Ingrian platforms come standard with a broad range of Web application security functions, including data encryption, private key management, SSL acceleration, certificate administration, intrusion protection, and more. In addition, Ingrian’s EASE (Extensible Architecture for Service Engines) framework enables customers to easily add security functionality as their business requires, simply by adding appropriate Ingrian Service Engine software modules. The result is a security solution that delivers an unsurpassed level of application transaction privacy, protection, and performance.
