Norman Virus
Control for Internet Information Server
Internet
Information Server (IIS)-based Web sites based on
Microsoft's Internet Information Server (IIS) have
been the target for aggressive worms and viruses,
and are likely to be attacked again. Even though
Microsoft provides patches to mend security
breaches, there is an apparent need for expert
software that is easy to update.
NVC for IIS sits
between the Internet and the IIS server and monitors
incoming traffic. It employs Norman Virus Controls (NVC)
scanning engine and virus definition files, and with
an effective updating mechanism.
Why NVC for IIS?
A filter like NVC
for IIS is a useful compliment to traditional
antivirus software that scans disks and boot sectors
for viruses, as this plug-in checks data streams as
well as files on the disk(s).
Features
Worm attacks will
be stopped and the client’s IP will be blocked for
a selected number of seconds. NVC for IIS can log
all attacks and the log is accessible via the web
with a user-defined trigger word.Attacks will also
be registered on the NVC Messaging System, like any
NVC component.
All options can be
configured using NVC’s Configuration Editor. All
changes are updated in real time and do not require
reboot or restart of the IIS Server. NVC for IIS
employs Norman’s scanning engine (NSE) and virus
definition files for detecting and stopping attacks.
Signatures are updated as usual with Norman Internet
Update (NIU).
NVC for IIS
includes the following features:
- Worm detection
and blocking
- Blocking of
attacking IPs
- Web log
- Configuration
Plug-in for NVC
