Norman Virus
Control for Linux
What is Linux
Linux is a free
operating system, gaining more and more popularity
as both a server and workstation system. Because of
its cost-efficiency, but also the stability and
scalability, Linux is considered one of the best
server-platforms available. Norman has developed a
new command-line scanner for Linux, compatible with
all major distributions.

Control (NVC) for Linux is a command-line scanner,
making it a flexible and powerful tool for the
Linux-administrator.
Integration.
NVC for Linux aims
to be Linux Standardization Base compatible,
enabling it to run on all major Linux distributions.
Installation
NVC for Linux is
available in the three most popular package formats
for Linux; RPM, DEB and TGZ.
Scanning
NVC for Linux is
based on Norman's well-known and respected virus
scanning
technology. Infected files can be cleaned or
removed. It also scans more than 30 different types
of archive files such as ZIP, CAB, JAR and ARJ
files. It is also able to
scan remote NFS volumes. Local users can also scan
their homedirectories.
Updating
NVC for Linux uses
the same scanner engine and virus definition files
as the other Norman Virus Control products.
E-mail scanning
Linux-machines are
often used as mail-servers. NVC for Linux is
compatible with recent versions of AMaViS, and can
therefore be used with all major mail servers.
AMaViS is available from http://www.amavis.org
Why NVC for Linux?
NVC for Linux is a
powerful tool for a Linux-administrator, giving him
full control deployment of scans within the native
Linux management. Unlike several competing products,
NVC is kernel-independent, making it available for
all major Intel-based distributions.
