Antivirus Software for MIMEsweeper

MIMEsweeper is installed as a gateway in the network. With respect to emails, MIMEsweeper will temporarily hold all emails passing through the gateway. MIMEsweeper will then search through each email for unwanted contents and remove it from the email if MIMEsweeper is configured to do so. When MIMEsweeper have finished processing, the e-mail is forwarded to the recipient according to the rules defined in MIMEsweeper. Similar technique is used for web based threats.

NVC for MIMEsweeper

Norman Virus Control (NVC) for MIMEsweeper 4.2_5 enables MIMEsweeper to search for computer viruses in the emails passing through the gateway. NVC will even remove viruses found in files attached to the emails. When NVC has removed the viruses, the attachment can be considered safe and the receiver may safely continue to use the attachment.

If for any reason NVC is unable to remove the virus, MIMEsweeper will quarantine the infected email.

Automatic update of the virus definition files and the scanning engine can be done with the Norman Internet Update program.

To integrate NVC for MIMEsweeper with MIMEsweeper, NVC version 5.2 Server or later must be installed on the server that runs MIMEsweeper.
